For two weeks in early January, Global Maritimes reporter Allison Brinsmead-Melanson and cameraman Kevin Godwin spent time embedded with the Canadian Forces on board HMCS Fredericton. The vessel is serving as part of Canada's mission to combat piracy in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden.
Now, each Friday in February and March, Allison will be reporting from the decks of the ship - telling the behind the scenes stories of what the women and men of our military are involved in each day; what their mission is; how they cope with being away from loved ones for so long; and giving us a unique, behind-the-scenes look at life on a Canadian naval vessel.
JUST ADDED: Now Playing - Part VII of Allison's and Kevin's series posted March 22, 2010.
