WOODSTOCK, N.B. - A Quebec-based company is looking to mine iron and manganese in New Brunswick's Carleton County.

Jack Stoch , president of Globex Mining Enterprises says initial test drilling has confirmed a historical deposit about 20 kilometres northwest of Woodstock.

Stoch says the 40-million tonne deposit could be quite significant.

More test drilling will likely take place this winter or next summer.

Stoch says the site has the potential for a good-size mining operation that could last for more than 20 years.

He says iron was mined at the site in the 1800's for use in shipbuilding.
