Global News has put together an interactive map to help people looking for/offering drives for commuters affected by the Metro Transit worker strike.
Talks between Halifax Regional Municipality and Amalgamated Transit Union members broke down Tuesday and workers are set to walk off the job at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2.
This map draws from sources such as Kijiji and Twitter, but viewers can also post their offers/requests as well.
Safe travels
Halifax Regional Police warn everyone to be very careful about accepting/offering rides to strangers and to check with co-workers and friends first before using a ride share.
Police also suggest letting your family and co-workers know your plans and who you are riding with.
Post your ride share offer/request
Mark your pick-up and/or drop-off location and all of the necessary information, such as times, number of seats available and if there is a fee required/offered.
Just type click on the map to go into Google Maps and search the location you want to mark. Pin a place marker to the location and enter in all of your information. Easy as that.

Several Halifax Regional Municipality residents have also chosen to use social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook to organize ride sharing.
Since news of the pending strike broke, Twitter users have made requests and offers with hashtags such as #halifaxride, #dartmouthride and #bedfordride.
